La Liberté, 24 septembre 2004 (pdf, 1 p., 212 kb)
THE CANTON FAIR
The Chinese Export Commodities Fair (also known as Canton
Fair) is the largest exhibition in China, promoting Chinese-made
export products since 1957. The Canton Fair is held twice annually.
More than 100'000 export products are exhibited at 27'000 booths
on a total surface 170'000 sq.m. Each time, it attracts around 150'000
visitors from 200 countries. It is an ideal opportunity for Swiss
business men to identify potential suppliers from China, to source
products, to survey competitors and to eventually find promising
partners. The Canton Fair for years has been generating high export
volumes from China and today is well renowned.
CHINA FOREIGN TRADE CENTER
The Canton Fair is organised by China Foreign Trade Center
(CFTC). CFTC is an organisation directly under the Ministry
of Commerce of the People's Republic of China (MOFCOM, formerly
known as MOFTEC). Apart from the world-famous Canton Fair, CFTC
organizes more than 10 other, large-scale international exhibitions
in China each year.
