Article 1: Maurice Lacroix: Growing a Niche Brand in the Luxury By Xinhua Wittmann and Alessio Ricciuti

The watchmaker Maurice Lacroix has managed to establish itself in the already crowded field of Swiss luxury watch brands within 45 years. The brand’s Managing Director Stefane Waser has been thinking about his global strategy, in particular whether to enter the Chinese market.

With limited resources, should he target the Chinese market which comes with huge potential or stay focused on the existing and more predictable European markets?

This case shows marketing approaches a Swiss company uses with limited budget to enter China.

Article 2: The Swiss Business in China Survey 2022 By Casas, Tomas and Musy, Nicolas and Xiao, Zhen

This Swiss Business in China Survey 2022 reflects the tumultuous events of this year. This is the first time that we have needed to conduct a follow-up mid-year flash survey to re-evaluate the level of business sentiment recorded at the start of the year. We felt that this was essential in order to understand how war in Europe, growing geopolitical tensions in Asia, and the ongoing Omicron lockdowns in China have impacted the expectations of Swiss companies for 2022 and beyond.

The dramatic collapse in business confidence that this survey reports is unprecedented.

Article 3: Can the digital economy sustain China’s growth under pressure? By Zhu Tian

Can the digital economy sustain China’s growth under pressure? In this article, China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) Professor of Economics, Santander Chair in Economics, Tian Zhu shares his insights into the document released by China’s National Bureau of Statistics in 2021, which for the first time defines the expanse of the digital economy and provides a statistical standard for measuring it.
