From the desk of the President

Dear members and friends of SCCC

Chinese organizations are more and more interested in Switzerland, according to our members’ feedback and my own observations. The reasons are manyfold. On the one hand, trade tensions between North America and China as well as uncertainties around the type and timing of the Brexit weigh on the sentiment in these areas. Swiss companies, on the other hand, are attractive, present interesting products and are set in a favorable economic environment.

On May 19, 2019 Swiss citizens voted in favor of the new Corporate Tax. Hereby, Switzerland has as of January 2020 an OECD compliant and sustainable tax regime. This is highly interesting for Chinese organizations that are looking for a setup in continental Europe for their overseas business activities. Other advantages of Switzerland, that result from the Free Trade Agreement, are the RMB hub and the MOU between the Shanghai Stock Exchange and the Swiss Stock Exchange. This is impressive.

In 2019, the People’s Republic of China will turn 70 years old. Time to celebrate and reflect. The Chamber is planning an exclusive event together with our Platinum Sponsor CCB, at which we would like to thank CCB Zurich Branch for their continuous support.

We are introducing a Membership Finder’s Fee scheme as of July 2019. If you bring in two new members in your own category, you or your company receives a free membership for one year.

SinoSwiss Technopark is holding for the second time the start-up and SME competition for companies that are interested in accessing the Chinese Markets. I highly recommend companies to participate at this competition as the knowledge gained is priceless. Information about this event has been sent to you in mid-June and is available on the website under www.ssbicom.com.

The back office of the Chamber has found a new home at an excellent location and at affordable rental costs, at the Kappelergasse 15, 8001 Zurich. This was only possible due to the support of one of our members. THANK YOU! Please do not hesitate to stop by and meet the SCCC back office team as they look forward to receiving member visits in our new premises.

In this newsletter you will find events that take place during the summer. The next newsletter will be sent out at the beginning of September. The whole SCCC-team and myself wish you a relaxing summer break.

Kind regards,

Felix Sutter
