From the desk of the President

Dear Members and Friends

The 2021 AGM and the Swiss China Summit took place on June 25 and were attended virtually by many members. We very much hope that we now can move away from virtual events and meet again in person soon.

At the AGM, the amendments to the articles of association that were necessary to expand the number of advisory board members were approved. The elections to the board also took place, no new members were elected, all eligible board members remained in their respective positions. A big thank you to all board members for their dedication, as all functions are honorary and no expense allowance is paid.

The Swiss China Summit was opened by welcome speeches from the Chinese Ambassador to Switzerland, WANG Shihting, Swiss Ambassador Raphael Nägeli, and CEIBS Professor Katherine Xin. The breakout sessions covered current topics, all delivered by excellent speakers with deep expertise.

With the arrival of summer, the number of Covid-19 cases has decreased and the vaccination coverage rate in Switzerland will soon reach 40%, which is in line with the intention of the Swiss government. Europe is preparing for the summer vacations, with mutual recognition of vaccination certificates.

Travel to China remains a challenge due to visa, entry restrictions and quarantine requirements. Of concern to health authorities around the world is the delta variant of the virus. Visit the SCCC website for the latest information on travel rules and guidelines.

During the months of July and August our offices will be partially closed for vacations. Please check our website for opening hours and contact us best by email.

I am pleased to announce that SCCC General Manager, Ms. Beilun Wei, has been named by the Europa Forum Lucerne as one of 25 ‘Impulsgeber’ for 2021. We congratulate Beilun and are proud to have such a talented and capable person leading SCCC as General Manager.

The next newsletter will be published after the summer break in early September. We wish you a relaxing, safe and healthy summer season.

With best regards,

Felix Sutter
