From the desk of the President

Dear SCCC members

I wish you a happy, healthy, successful and prosperous 2020 – and later in the month a happy, healthy, successful and prosperous Chinese New Year. It is a rare occasion to have both within the same month.

2020 will bring a host of events that are relevant for the SCCC and for you as a member. Not only has a new decade begun, in 2020 we will also celebrate 70 years of diplomatic ties between China and Switzerland. And we will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the SCCC.

This will entail a string of events, activities, editorials and publications that are made possible by the generous contributions of our anniversary partners. I would like to express my profound gratitude to our Anniversary Title Partner ICBC Zurich Branch, as well as to Vischer AG, Bühler Group, UBS, ABB, Roche, Switzerland Global Enterprise and EurAsia Competence.

Please check the SCCC events website regularly, and look out for publications and information that are relevant for your businesses. For example, we expect the release of the 14th Five-Year Plan of the Chinese Government (in short “145”) in Spring 2020. This document outlines the areas of investment and development by the Chinese Government on national, provincial and even SOE level – a highly important document that should be understood by all parties and enterprises that conduct business with the People’s Republic of China. As soon as the English version is available, we will publish a link to the document and give you insights and analysis.

In January, at the occasion of the 50th World Economic Forum in Davos, we will have several high-profile visits of Chinese government officials and Chinese entrepreneurs. At the end of the WEF week, we will celebrate Chinese New Year at the KKL in Lucerne, where SCCC will hosts its traditional member apéro – this year before the concert and kindly sponsored by Rigi Bahnen. Please register as soon as possible to secure your participation. The official CNY reception in Zurich will take place on February 27 – the invitation will follow shortly.

I am looking forward to seeing you in Lucerne!

With best regards,

Felix Sutter
